MONASTERY ``TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD`` - ZRZE, DOLNENI MUNICIPALITY
The monastery ``Transfiguration of the Lord``-Zrze, Municipality of Dolneni, or commonly known as ``Zrze Monastery`` is located near the village of Zrze. The monastery has been declared a monument of culture. It is the episcopal seat of Herakleian Bishop Clement.
The monastery was probably built sometime in the 14th century by the monk German, during the reign of the Serbian king Stefan Dushan, which is supported by the inscription located on the outer wall of the southern entrance in the main monastery church.
The monastery is located at an altitude of 731 m, surrounded by a thick oak forest on the southern slopes of Dautica mountain. Above the monastery, at a distance of 2 km there is the Movnatec cave, for a visit of which you must have a proper guide.

The
Chicheov monastery has ideal conditions for cycling and hiking trails. The Klepa peak (altitude of 1150 m.) is near the monastery. There is a hiking trail that is properly marked by the environmental group ``Green Power`` from Veles.

You can get there by an asphalt road that passes through the Prilep villages of Ropotovo, Peshtalevo, Kostinci and Zrze. The Holy Transfiguration Monastery is located 33 kilometers northwest of Prilep. The monastery is 169 km away from Skopje via Prilep, via E-75 and road 106. Through Tetovo and Gostivar, you drive on the road M-4 and the distance is 175 km. From Bitola to Zrze, on the other hand, it is 77 km via the M-5 road.
