The construction of the monastery was carried out in the 14th or 15th century when no Muslim population had yet settled in Azot area. In the period between 1850 to 1855, the lodgings and the church were repaired.
There is a little information about the monastery. From what has been recorded and what has been retold by generations, it is known that it was built in 1836, by the local population with the help of the surrounding villages: Bogomila, Bistrica, Teovo, Papradishte, Elovec, R'levci; Muslims also participated in its construction.
When you enter through the wooden gate of the monastery church, you’ll see the wooden iconostasis on which the icon of the Most Holy Mother of God is placed, which is 150 years old and has survived all the jeopardies of the monastery. This icon is popularly known as the icon of the Mother of God -Soglenska, and it makes wonders to the present day.
If
you want to travel to the ``Nativity of the Holy Mother of God`` monastery in the village of Sogle, you can do it via the Veles-Bogomila local road. The village of Sogle is 7 km from Bogomila and 39 km from Veles.
From the village of Sogle you go to the near monastery ``Nativity of the Holy Mother of God`` via an off-road path for 4-5 km.
It is suitable for a mountain walk or a short cycling tour.
To get to this monastery, drive from Veles towards Gradsko, and when you reach Gradsko, turn right up the street through the settlement, then continue along the local road that leads to the villages of Dolno and Gorno Chichevo. From both sides, through the car window, you can see only fields and wasteland, with rarely a few trees. As you travel through the terrain, you may wonder on how in the middle of this desolate wasteland there could be such a famous monastery. Because ``St. Archangel Michael`` is a monastery that in the past centuries was a very famous and important Orthodox sanctuary for the clergy and Orthodox believers from this region and beyond.
While you are still traveling, all of a sudden you’ll see a low-stemmed forest in the distance, through which the beautiful five domes rise high, four smaller and one larger in the middle with crosses, symbols of Christianity. As you approach, the monastery appears in front of you in all its grandeur and beauty – a true pearl of sacral culture.
