RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ACCOMMODATION CAPACITIES:
The early antique city of Pelagonia, the capital of the Pelagonian kings in the 4th century BC and the capital of Macedonia IV from 168 to 148 BC. When Roman military units conquered it in 168 BC, the kingdom of Macedonia was divided into four parts - merides. The capitals of the first three meridians were Amphipolis, Thessalonica (Thessalonica) and Pella, which are today in the territory of the Republic of Greece. The center of the fourth merida is the city of Pelagonia, which scientists are still searching for. This is significant data for one of the Upper Macedonian early ancient independent kingdoms, which already in the second half of the 4th and throughout the 3rd century BC gradually joined the single kingdom of Macedonia.
Spears of the Macedonian phalanx, silver and bronze jewelry and plate, coins with Alexander, Philip, Kassander Demetrius were found here... Three shields were also found here, which are conserved in Ohrid.
The central chamber of the tomb was looted in late antiquity, the corridor was excavated in 1912 by the French army. The uniqueness of the tomb is due to its circular wall, which can’t be found nor in the Balkans, neither in the world. A powerful Macedonian king from the 3rd and 4th century BC was buried in it, and then cremated, with all the honors and material goods.
In some conversations with archaeologists, it is speculated that all the artifacts from the tomb near the village of Bonche are possibly in Belgrade. If you already happen to be there, you should climb to the top of Visoka, at an altitude of 1471 m., where the remains of the ancient city of Pelagon (unconfirmed) are located, built 2500 years ago.
It is an ancient city built at the highest altitude in Europe!
The
uniqueness of this locality is that you can reach it by bicycle. Next to this tomb passes a bicycle path ``Tour through Sliva`` organized by the Prilep bicycle association ``Association of lovers of hill and mountain activities, rock and roll and a good cup``.
In addition to this locality, the tour also passes through the village of Shtavica, famous for the filming of director Milcho Manchevski. His best films such as ``Before the Rain``, ``Dust`` and others were filmed there.
